On Saturday, Feb. 28, cheer squads from Bethlehem (Class B), Berne-Knox-Westerlo (Class D), and Guilderland (Class A) took to the mat at Troy High School as they took on other top schools in the Section 2 championships in their respective classes.

On Friday, Feb. 27, the top-seeded Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ basketball squad looked to take one step closer to repeating its Section 2, Class C title as the Bulldogs took on eighth-seed Maple Hill at Hudson Valley Community College.

On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 27 and 28, two wrestlers from Guilderland (Kody Dott and Abdo Baraeya), two from Berne-Knox-Westerlo-Middleburgh (Gabe and Liam English) and Eagles’ James Nalbone all battled wrestlers from around New York State at the MVP arena.

Last Thursday, two Bethlehem girls wrestling members, Katie Haung and Charleigh Eick, battled against the other top New York State wrestlers at the MVP arena in Albany.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, the fourth-seed Voorheesville girls’ basketball squad battled 13th-seed Fonda-Fultonville at home. The Blackbirds took control of the game from the opening tip as they glided into Saturday’s quarterfinals with a 71-29 win.

On Tuesday, Feb. 24, the third-seeded Berne-Knox-Westerlo girls’ basketball team pursued a Section 2, Class C title at home as the team took on 14th-seeded Schoharie. The Bulldogs came out running and their tough defense helped them move on with a 67-30 win.

On Friday, Feb. 20, the Bethlehem hockey team started their Section 2 quarterfinal at Glens Falls Arena as they took on the Adirondack RIvermen. The Eagles scored first but then the Rivermen rallied to clip the Eagles 5-1.

Last Wednesday, Feb. 18, the Storm hockey team kicked off their Section 2 championships on the road against Christian Brothers Academy at Albany County Hockey Facility. The Storm surged out to a 4-1 lead but the Brothers came back to win with 5-4.

On Monday, Feb. 16, the Guilderland and Bethlehem girls’ wrestling squads battled in the Section 2 state qualifiers at Guilderland High School to attempt to qualify for Feb. 26’s state competition at the MVP arena in Albany.

On Saturday, Feb. 14, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, Guilderland, and Voorheesville track teams took to the Hudson Valley Community College indoor track floor for a last-chance battle to get to Staten Island for the state competition on March 6.
