Last Thursday, Oct. 23, the Bethlehem boys’ soccer squad started their run to a sectional title as the second seed in the Section 2, Class AA sectional quarterfinals against seventh-seed Amsterdam. The Eagles easily handled the Rams in their 9-0 win.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Guilderland field hockey squad, the three seed in the Section 2, Class A sectionals, started their defense of their Section 2 championship as they took on sixth-seeded Shaker.
On Friday, Oct. 17, the Guilderland girls’ tennis squad was looking for its first Section 2, Class AA title in 15 years, with Saratoga standing in their way. All the matches were intense but the Dutch fell 6 to 3.
Last Wednesday and Friday, Oct. 15 and 17, golfers from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, Guilderland, and Voorheesville competed in cold weather and a challenging course to qualify for the state competition in June.
On Oct. 14, the fifth-seeded Bethlehem girls’ tennis squad traveled up to fourth-seeded Shenendehowa in the quarterfinals of the Section 2, Class AA sectional tournament. The Eagles played well but fell 8 to 1.
On Saturday, Oct. 11, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, Guilderland, and Voorheesville cross-country teams competed in the Burnt Hills Invitational at Saratoga State Park. BKW boys finished 13th, Bethlehem boys 10th, and Bethlehem girls second.
On Friday, Oct. 10, the Guilderland boys’ volleyball squad hosted Suburban Council foe in Saratoga on their Dig pink event. The Dutch fought hard but fell in straight sets; 25-27, 23-25, 14-25.
Last Thursday, Oct. 9, the Guilderland girls’ soccer team made the trip up the Northway to take on the Blue Streaks on their senior night. The brisk and chilly weather along with the tough Saratoga defense didn’t allow the Dutch much opportunity as they fell 4 to 0.
On Wednesday, Oct. 8, the Guilderland and Bethlehem boys’ golf squads battled for a team title in the Section 2, Class A sectionals. Then on Tuesday morning, six Eagles and seven Dutchmen competed in the state qualifiers in hopes to make June’s state competition.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Voorheesville boys’ golf teams battled in the Section 2 Class CD sectionals at Fairways of Halfmoon in hopes to move onto next weeks’ second round.
