Last Thursday, Jan. 8, the Voorheesville boys’ volleyball team hosted Taconic Hills in a Class C matchup. The Birds dominated in the first two sets then eased off but won in straight sets; 25-7, 25-9, 25-18.

Last Wednesday, Jan. 7, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo bowling squad hosted Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville at Town n’ Country in Guilderland. The three bowlers battled but fell 4-0 (2596-1459 in total pins).

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, the Guilderland boys’ basketball squad hosted the Spartans of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at Guilderland High School. After a slow start, Guilderland sailed to an 83-to-58 win.

On Sunday, Jan. 4, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo indoor track team competed in the Tri County Indoor Track League 5D meet at Union College in Schenectady.

On Saturday, Jan. 3, the Guilderland Nordic team competed at the Saratoga Invitational at Brookhaven Golf Course on a cold and windy morning. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams finished fourth.

On Friday, Jan. 2, Guilderland gymnasts kicked off the new year against their crosstown rival, Bethlehem. The Dutch performed well in their 156.950-150.525 win.

On Saturday, Dec. 27, the Bethlehem boys’ wrestling squad battled in the Queensbury Holiday tournament against 15 other teams, two from out of state. The team won two individual championships and finished third with 189 points.

Last Tuesday, Dec. 23, the Storm hockey team, made up of Guilderland, Voorheesville, Schalmont, Mohonasen, and Scotia-Glenville students, traveled to the Glens Falls Recreational facility to take on the Queensbury Spartans. The Storm started well but fell, 9 to 1.

On Sunday, Dec. 21, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ basketball team traveled to Siena University to participate in the Evan Franz Memorial Coaches vs Cancer Challenge against Section 9’s Saugerties, a Class A school.

On Saturday, Dec. 20, the Bethlehem boys’ basketball team hosted a non-league matchup against Section 1’s Fox Lane at home. From the opening tip, the Eagles never trailed as they soared to a 53-38 win.
