Guilderhaven, enters 20th year

GUILDERLAND — On April 20, Guilderhaven will be at the town’s shredding and hazardous waste day. We also use this time to collect donations of pet food, toys, blankets, sheets, and gift certificates, such as Tractor Supply, and PetSmart.

On Tuesday morning at the Appel Inn in Guilderland. The YMCA held a breakfast to honor the students of five school districts on their volunteerism along with a few educators as well.

Last Thursday at the SEFCU arena on the campus of the University at Albany, an event called "we care" was held where around 700 volunteers helped fill bags for sexual assault victims that enter Albany Medical Center's Emergency room.

The Guilderland softball team battled the Ballston Spa Scotties in an early season Suburban Council matchup on Friday afternoon at home. The game started as a pitchers’ duel but then the Scotties’ bats woke up and the Dutch fell behind. A Dutch rally fell short in the 11-to-6 loss.

Wells promoted

GUILDERLAND — Jason Wells from Guilderland, assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters of the New York National Guard, received a promotion to the rank of sergeant first class.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

GUILDERLAND — Denny J. Empie, a star Guilderland High School athlete, went on to be a teacher and coach. He was a devoted son to his mother who lived to be over 100, and a born-again Christian who started the Jesus Soda Survey.

Quinones attorney says plea deal in works for rape and menacing charges

The 17-year-old was out on $15,000 bail in a rape case when he allegedly waved the gun around during a Vape-cigarette buy in the mall parking lot.
