Learning with Lego: Demetrius Stoddard of Guilderland, a student in the BOCES Manufacturing and Machining Technology program uses Lego blocks in a recent class integrating math with design. “The idea is they are learning how to work on design and math concepts while also practicing their interpersonal skills,” said teacher Charlene Vice. Students in the two-year program operate everything from drill presses to 3D printers as they learn design and prototype skills and undertake the diagnostics necessary to manufacture a part.
