“The new culvert’s parapet will be designed to complement the nearby historic district,” said Guilderland Supervisor Peter Barber.

It was just one of four local sales made by Chicago-based Ventas, a real-estate investment trust, to Peregrine Senior Living of Syracuse, according to paperwork filed with the Albany County Clerk’s Office. 

A new course taught by Rabbi Danielle Weisbrot at B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation in Albany will look at creating modern midrash, the rabbinic interpretation of a passage or text from the Torah.

“Creating Modern Midrash” will be offered four Wednesdays, beginning Jan. 5, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Altamont celebrated the season on Sunday with a light-decorating contest; Christmas trees in Orsini park trimmed by community groups; a Pet Pawrade; a living Nativity, and finally, after dark, a parade where Santa rode through the village on a fire truck. The COVID-safe event, hosted by Altamont Community Tradition, was held entirely outdoors on brisk but sunny day.

On Tuesday, Dec. 21, the Guilderland gymnastics team went up the Northway to face powerhouse Saratoga. The Dutch held their own with only six gymnasts and fell 163.650 to 141.900.

On Friday, Dec. 17, the Guilderland Girls basketball team visited Schenectady for an early matinee game due to the junior varsity game being cancelled amid COVID concerns. The Dutch led from the opening tip to the final whistle with a 58-to-34 win.
