To the Editor:

The Altamont Parade Committee presents the 2022 Memorial Day Parade on May 22 at 2 p.m. We hope the streets will be lined again with families and friends as floats, marchers, vehicles, and kids participate, paying tribute to our fallen heroes.

At the end of the parade, we’ll gather in Orsini Park as the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts lay a wreath in memory of our departed military and then present a wonderful short program about the history of our flag!

At the conclusion of the memorial program, there will be a community field day in the park, so bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Free hot dogs will be offered by the Altamont Fire Department, and drinks and ice cream will be donated by Stewart’s!

Music and family games will follow so plan to make a day of it — parade, memorial program, community picnic, and field day. What more could you want? (Maybe great weather!)
