The Voorheesville Board of Education approved new reserve funds that will help the sometimes-difficult process of school budgeting.

The village of Voorheesville took ownership of a popular sledding destination in the winter this month and held a ribbon cutting Tuesday morning.

At the Oct. 16 Voorheesville School Board meeting, an independent audit of the district showed it to be in good shape financially, but the district’s rainy-day savings is over the state-set cap. It was also reported that fundraising for a new playground went better than expected. And residents of Guilderland voiced disapproval over the increase in their school-tax bills.

Voorheesville Village Trustee Florence Reddy resigned before the end of her term and has been replaced by on the board by Sarita Winchell.

The neighborhood surrounding a state DOT garage in Voorheesville was jarred by an early-morning explosion caused by trucks that were on fire.

VOORHEESVILLE — The First United Methodist Church in Voorheesville invites all to come for a free lunch on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month, from noon to 1 p.m.

There are no take-outs; diners will eat their lunches in the church hall.

On Saturday put on by the Voorheesville Library was part of their summer reading program with the theme of “Build a Better World.” 

Last month, the village board authorized payment of $6,200 in fines to the federal Environmental Protection Agency for violations of the Clean Water Act.
