This weekend, you can support the Friends at annual book sale

To the Editor:

Friends of the Voorheesville Public Library has been serving the community since 1998 through fundraising efforts. The annual Fall Book Sale, taking place Sept. 15 through 17 in the parking lot, is our largest fundraiser besides our membership drive.

The funds raised support the public library’s outreach programs including book discussions for young people and adults, an annual summer reading program for young people, the recent purchase of needed iPads and a 3-D printer, as well as regular concerts.

The used-book sale, along with Encore! book sales through the summer, provide the community with deeply discounted books and media for all ages, offering appropriate reading material at reasonable prices to literacy volunteers, senior-citizen centers, newly hired teachers, and other education professionals. These sales also offer the community, and the library, a handy, but valuable, opportunity to recycle their no-longer-wanted books and media.

As the cold, winter months approach, stocking up on some cozy winter reads, holiday crafting books, or new recipes to change up a festive occasion will provide a way to get through those miserable, dreary winter days.

There are books for all ages and all interests! Also, numerous gift baskets will be raffled off. The Nimblefingers crafters will be offering their creations in the community room on Saturday. The always popular bake sale will satisfy your sweet tooth!

Please join us this weekend and browse for these items as you support the exceptional Voorheesville Public Library. Here’s the schedule:

— Friday, Sept. 15: 2 p.m. to dark (for Friends of the Library members; membership is available at the door for $10);

— Saturday, Sept. 16: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and

— Sunday, Sept. 17: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
