The Voorheesville Blackbirds girls’ volleyball team returned to the state championships — for the first time since 2013 after a four-year run — Saturday at the Glens Falls arena.

Three local runners, two from Voorheesville and one from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, slogged through the mud and snow at the State Cross-Country competition at Wayne High School in Ontario Center in western New York Saturday, racing against the fastest runners in New York. Each ran on the 3.1 mile course.

Senior leadership helped teams from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville this year. Some seniors led their teams to deep sectional runs or even to victory in sectional championships.

Classes might have been over but not for the Voorheesville AP Physics. On Wednesday, June 21, students in the class showed off their class project to some eighth-graders at the school.

Sectional playoffs have begun and the Colonial Council Patriot Division champions, the Voorheesville Blackbirds, started the journey towards winning another sectional championship on Tuesday afternoon at home against Catskill.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds had a tough time against the Lansingburgh Knights on Monday afternoon at Lansingburgh High School in a Colonial Council matchup. The Blackbirds are 1-3 on the year after losing, 6 to 0, on Monday, April 26.

Showing their power, grace, and determination, the varsity teams from Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Voorheesville gave it their all during the winter sports season.

It was business as usual for the Voorheesville boys’ volleyball team in the Class C/D sectional semifinal and final.

On Wednesday, Feb 1, Voorheesville Senior Veda Hensel officially signs her letter of intent to play soccer at Niagara University.

Professional actress Kerry Conte stopped by Clayton A. Bouton High School last Saturday, Jan 14, to talk to the cast of "Mary Poppins" during the day long workshop.
