Photos: Seniors for All Seasons

Senior leadership helped teams from Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville this year. Some seniors led their teams to deep sectional runs or even to victory in sectional championships.

For the Bulldogs, Monique Brittion reached the 1,000-point club in her senior season and played a big part in the Bulldogs deep sectional run, which ended in a very competitive championship game against Mekeel Christian Academy.

Another senior who had a good season for the Bulldogs was Zach Wright as he wrestled for the combined team of Voorheesville-BKW and pinned his way to the state-qualifying matches.

The Guilderland Dutchmen set sail all season long. In football, Guilderland’s George Marinopoulos ran and threw the ball to pound opponents and get to the sectional semifinal in back-to-back years; both times, the Dutch fell to Shaker.

Helping the gymnastics team get to state competition, Emma Drislane showed skill on the beam in sectionals. Drislane, coming off an injury in her junior year, bounced back to show off her talents at states.

The Blackbirds soared high this school year. In soccer, Veda Hensel ended her career as Voorheesville’s top goal scorer and led her team to a sectional semifinal birth.

Punishing their opponents: The Voorheesville boys’ volleyball team went undefeated, 20-0, which led to the team’s second regional championship in three years, led by seniors Miles DeFranco, Braden Racey and John Moreau.

Not the ending she wanted, Guilderland's Serena Munoz was an valuable part of the Dutchmen gymnastics team. Here, she competed in the uneven bars against Bethlehem. But broke her ankle in an invitational just before sectionals.

All around: BKW's Kristen Norray had a hand all year in the sports she was a part of, girls soccer, sectional finalist in girls basketball and on the outdoor track team as a shot putter and discus thrower.
