It was business as usual for the Voorheesville boys’ volleyball team in the Class C/D sectional semifinal and final. The Blackbirds are 19-0 and will be going for their second regional championship in three years this coming Saturday evening at home at 6 p.m.; Voorheesville is hosting the regional championships this year.

Last Thursday evening, the Blackbirds, the top team in Class C/D, faced off against New Lebanon at Rensselaer High School. Keeping the ball alive, Voorheesville’s Lukas Fisher lunges to bump the ball to a teammate during the first set of the straight-set win, 25-7, 25-12, 25-15. Fisher had 18 digs in the semifinal and added 13 digs in the finals.

Deflating the ball with every powerful spike, Voorheesville’s Braden Racey puts the ball away after a perfect set from a teammate during the second set. Racey had 16 kills and 20 digs in the semifinals then added 10 kills and 21 digs in last Saturday’s championship win against Germantown in straight sets; 25-17, 25-23, 25-16 at Maple Hill High School.

Waiting to see if the ball comes: Voorheesville’s Brian Hotopp prepares for a New Lebanon serve during the third set in the semifinals. Hotopp accumulated two aces, six digs, and 31 assists in the semifinal win and then had 33 assists, five digs, and an ace in the finals.
