ALTAMONT — A resilient woman whose life spanned two continents and embraced varied careers, Sonja Otterness was known for her courage and warmth.

She died on Thursday, March 9, 2017. She was 82.

ALTAMONT — John W. Foley, who had a lifelong quest for speed, died on Friday, March 17, 2017, with his family by his side. “He was a legend and icon of Altamont for 60 years, fixing cars making them run better or faster,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was 79.

VOORHEESVILLE — Christine D. Lehman loved animals all her life and, through them, she served people.

ALTAMONT —  Janice A. Wright of Altamont, whom her family described as a loving mother and cherished grandmother, died on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Teresian House Nursing Home. She was 86.

ALTAMONT — Barbara A. Costin — who was “mainly a mom,” her daughter said — died peacefully on Sunday, June 12, 2016, in Fairfax, Virginia surrounded by her family. She was 75.

Barbara Ann Lazzo was born and raised in Troy, New York and married Paul G. Costin in 1962.

POTTER HOLLOW — A well-known and well-loved figure in this hamlet, Kathryne A. Reed, died Saturday, June 18, 2016, leaving behind happy memories for many. She was 88.

His death, from injuries in a motorcyle accident, leaves ‘Beebe-medics’ without a mentor.
