Doris ‘Dori’ Ellen Bode

ALTAMONT — A local resident since 1994, Doris “Dori” Ellen (née Knowles) Bode died at her Palm Beach Gardens home in Florida on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021. She was 86.

Her favorite saying was, “The time to be happy is now.”

“She had a knack for bringing a smile to every situation,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Her husband of 35 years, Dr. William G. Bode D.D.S., died in 2009.

Mrs. Bode had worked as a chairside assistant and office manager at his practice on Western Avenue in Albany.

“They enjoyed an active retirement, summering in Altamont and wintering in Palm Beach Gardens,” her family wrote. “Her passions included golf, bridge, entertaining, reading, and writing poetry. She was a proud grandmother to Devon Atkinson, David Bode, Jeffrey Bode, Danielle Bode and Hannah Bode.”

A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at The Appel Inn at 590 State Route 146 in Guilderland.
