GUILDERLAND — James H. Lee of Albany “was called to Heaven,” his family wrote, on Thursday, April 28, 2016. He was 86.

“Jim (aka Lee) was a wonderful, kind, gentle, and caring man,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather.”

ALTAMONT — Avlon (Christine) Eldred — a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother — died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 20, 2016, with family by her side.

 She was an active member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion posts.

ALTAMONT — Caroline E. Hildenbrand, whom her family said will be remembered for her heart of gold, died on Friday, May 13, 2016, at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 56.

She was born in Kingston, New York to the late Charles and Loraine Lasher. She was one of 10 children.

LATHAM — Priscilla E. Hogan, a registered nurse, was a skilled seamstress who owned her own bridal shop, but most of all liked to be with her children and great-grandchildren.

She died on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Albany Medical Center after a traffic accident in Guilderland. She was 84.

Joan Fitzgerald, a nurse who loved to read and to watch science fiction movies, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. She was 70.

She was born on Oct. 3, 1945 in Glens Falls, the beloved daughter of the late Edward M. and Doris K. Fitzgerald and the sister of the late Diane R. Fitzgerald.

ALTAMONT — Paul A. Benson, who grew up in Altamont, was an engineer who worked on the Apollo Lunar Project and loved the adventure of travel. He died on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at his home on Camano Island, Washington. He was 85.

EAST BERNE — Norman Roderick Kendall, described by his family as a hardworking man with a huge heart, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2016, in Auburn, California where he had lived. He was 57.

“Norm had an insatiable desire to help everybody and wasn’t afraid to dream big,” his family wrote in a tribute.

BERNE — Helen A. Methe, who taught business at Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, died on March 12, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi, after a short illness. She was 81.

SCHENECTADY — Justus Andrew Booze, whom his close friend called “the light in the room when you felt alone,” died Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in a workplace accident in Guilderland. He was 23.
