Cory Ash would never have stolen a car for the usual reasons — to keep it or sell it,  said his close friend Brianna Jeffers of Voorheesville.

“During that time, you’re on your own,” said Captain Daniel McNally of the Guilderland Police.

He was referring to the minutes between a 9-1-1 call and the arrival of police. The national average is said to be three minutes, he said, “but I would argue it’s more than that.”

Curtis Cox, Daniel McNally, and Eric Batchelder were all promoted within the Guilderland Police Department on Tuesday night at a town board meeting.

New York State Police public information officer Mark Cepiel said the investigation in the murder of a family of four last October was still ongoing and there was no new information. But, he said, all evidence had been removed from the house, and the owners were free to do as they pleased with it.

The Bus Operator Roadeo competition held Thursday, June 11, at Crossgates Mall, tested the eyes and orientation of several area bus drivers.

Free child car-seat inspections and assistance are available to parents and caregivers weekly across New York. The inspection in Albany County will take place on June 13 at the Guilderland Public Library at 2228 Western Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sean McCutcheon tripped and fell, and the truck backed over him, according to a release from the Guilderland Police Department.
