After a cab driver taking two young men to the mall had a semi-automatic handgun pulled on him, one of the suspects fled on foot, police say.

GUILDERLAND — Five panelists at a heroin and opiate education forum on Wednesday agreed that the war on drugs is being lost and the biggest problems are with prevention and treatment.

GUILDERLAND — At least four different agencies are working together to solve the quadruple homicide that was discovered last Wednesday, Oct. 8, where a couple and their two children were murdered in their Guilderland home at 1846 Western Avenue.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Police have dealt with five homicide cases in the last 27 years.

Unlike the current investigation of murder of a family of four, the earlier Guilderland homicides, each involved one victim and were solved relatively rapidly without so many different police agencies involved.

NEW SCOTLAND — During a traffic stop on June 30, Guilderland Police say Officer Robert Bailey was assaulted and bitten by Michele Salerno.

Caregivers for those on both ends of the age spectrum — the elderly suffering from Alzheimer's and the young on the autism spectrum — can sign up with police to be part of a system that will help them get home if they wander.
