On Friday late morning and early afternoon - Guilderland, Voorheesville, and BKW - cross country teams all vied for a chance to run in this Saturday's state competition down in Sunken Meadow State Park in the Section 2 championships at Saratoga State Park in Saratoga Springs.
The Guilderville and Duanesburg-BKW swim teams showed off their skills during last weekend's Division 1 and Division 2 sectional championship at Shenendehowa High School in efforts to win sectional titles and qualify for state competition.

One bad bounce or a different play could have led Guilderland’s field hockey and football teams to the next round in their Class AA sectional games. The field hockey team played well against Shenendehowa last Thursday in a tight game that needed extra time to be resolved.
The Guilderland girls’ soccer season ended on Friday afternoon as the Dutch lost to the Silver Warriors in the start of the Class AA sectionals, 2 to 0.
Win and get in: The Guilderland Dutchmen won against Christian Brothers Academy last Friday night at home, qualifying for the Class AA playoffs next week. The Dutch led from the start, concluding with a 41-to-19 win. Guilderland will face undefeated Shaker at Shaker Friday night at 7 p.m.
It’s the end of the regular season for Guilderland field hockey and the start of individual sectional play for the girls’ tennis team. The Dutch field hockey team traveled to Shaker last Friday to play the Blue Bison and won, 2 to 1.
In a hard-fought battle, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team lost to Christian Brothers Academy last Thursday at home, 3 to 1. The Dutch tied the game at the half but the Brothers’ defense kept Guilderland from scoring in the second half.
The girls on the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team, who call themselves the Geese, took to the water on Tuesday afternoon at home, in Voorheesville, for Senior Night, against Troy. The Geese dominated, winning 90 to 76.
