On Monday morning, August 30, the Dutchmen took on Shaker at Western Turnpike Golf Course in a Suburban Council matchup. The boys fell 240-to-263 while the girls won 134-to-166.

School sports competitions returned at last this week — with golf.

Guilderland girls — five of them — have their own golf team for the first time this year since Section 2 of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association has recognized girls’ golf as a sport.

This week, varsity golfers from Guilderland and Voorheesville started the fall sports season, hoping to drive their way to sectional titles that culminate this coming spring when the winners travel to state competition.

The golf season got an early start, before school opens, as Guilderland and Voorheesville varsity golf teams hit the links to get ready for sectionals at the end of the season on August 23.
