Guilderland girls — five of them — have their own golf team for the first time this year since Section 2 of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association has recognized girls’ golf as a sport. The girls were on the links this week along with the Guilderland boys’ team and the Voorheesville boys — all hoping to earn a shot for this summer's state tournament.

On Tuesday morning, the Guilderland teams faced off against Columbia at Western Turnpike Golf Course in Guilderland where the boys won, 262 to 292, while the girls fell, 163 to 166. Leading the way for the girls’ team was Megna Naidu, Dutch’s number-one girl golfer, as she smacks a good tee shot. Naidu shot a 47.
