On Saturday, Nov. 9, the Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo cross-country teams competed in the Section 2 championships at Queensbury High School, the site for the state competition.

On Monday evening, Nov. 4, the fifth-seeded Voorheesville Blackbirds traveled to Maple Hill High School to take on the fourth-seeded Wildcats. The game was originally scheduled for Friday but due to no power at the school, the game was played Monday.

Last Wednesday, Oct. 30, the second-seeded Voorheesville boys soccer team traveled to La Salle Institute and competed in the Section 2, Class B sectional quarterfinal against the third-seeded Greenville.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, the second-seeded Voorheesville girls’ soccer team hosted a Section 2, Class B quarterfinal matchup against seventh-seeded Cairo-Durham at home. The Blackbirds used their talons to claw away early as the Blackbirds’ move on with a 8-0 win.

On Monday, Oct. 21, six Guilderland and three Voorheesville boys golfers compete at the Fairways of Halfmoon golf course as they battle for a spot on the state team. These golfers qualified after last weeks’ sectional play.

Last Wednesday and Friday, Oct. 16 and 18, six Guilderland, two Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and one Voorheesville girls competed in the Section 2 championships at Hiland Park Country Club in Queensbury for a spot on the state team.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Voorheesville boys golf teams battled at the Fairways of Halfmoon in the Section 2, Class CD sectionals.

On Saturday, Oct. 12, the Voorheesville football team held their senior day as they took on Corinth/Hadley-Luzerne. The Voorheesville defense didn’t allow anything and the offense had their way on the ground in route to their 43-to-0 win.

On Friday, Oct. 11, the sixth-seeded Voorheesville tennis team competed in the Section 2, Class B sectional opening round as they traveled to third-seeded Ichabod Crane. The Blackbirds fell 7-0.

Last Thursday, Oct. 10, the Voorheesville volleyball team took on the Panthers of the Academy of Holy Names at home. All five sets were back and forth with lots of emotions but the Birds fell three sets to two (21-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23, 11-15).
