Last Thursday, May 11, the Voorheesville baseball team had its final regular-season game at LaSalle Institute. The Cadets’ pitching didn’t allow much potential for the Blackbirds as they only had six hits and the Birds fell, 12 to 2.

On Tuesday, May 9, the Voorheesville boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Lansingburgh High School to take on the Knights on senior night. It all started from the opening faceoff as the Birds led from start to finish, winning 14 to 1.

On Saturday, May 6, the Voorheesville softball team traveled to Albany Academy for Girls for a makeup game due to a rain out. The Birds went hitless until the fourth inning and were able to scratch home a run. They lost, 10 to 1.

On Friday, April 21, the Voorheesville Blackbirds girls’ lacrosse team hosted the LaSalle Cadets at Clayton A. Bouton High School. The Birds pressured the Cadets since the opening faceoff and ultimately won, 17 to 0. It’s the first shutout in program history.

It was a cold and windy Tuesday, April 18, for the Voorheesville Blackbirds’ track team as they took on Cobleskill-Richmondville and Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk at Cobleskill-Richmondville High School. The girls’ team beat RCS (93-37) but lost to Cobleskill-Richmondville (83-58).

On Friday afternoon, April 14, the Voorheesville softball team traveled to Ichabod Crane for a Colonial Council matchup. The Blackbirds couldn’t muster much against the talented Riders. The Birds had two hits and lost 18 to 1.

Last Thursday, Apr. 6, the Voorheesville Blackbirds baseball team traveled to Mohonasen High School to take on the Warriors. The Warriors pitching staff allowed only four hits to the Blackbirds in six innings. Voorheesville lost 11 to 1.

Last Friday evening, March 31, the Guilderland Dutchmen and Voorheesville Blackbirds faced off at Guilderland High School in a non-league matchup. Guilderland’s high powered offense didn’t allow Voorheesville much opportunity as Guilderland won, 18 to 4.

On March 3 and 4, the Guilderville boys’ swim team took on 433 state-wide swimmers at Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swimming championships.

On Monday, Feb. 27, the Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ volleyball team opened up their Section 2, Class C sectionals at home as they took on the Chatham Panthers. The Birds handled the Panthers easily winning three sets to none, 25-16, 25-23, 25-13.
