Photos: Frigid Cup Earns Its Name As Mother Nature Ends Invy Early
On Saturday, April 5, Guilderland, Bethlehem, and Voorheesville track teams took part in the Guilderland Frigid Cup Invitational held at Guilderland High School. As the athletes competed fiercely on the track and in the field, Mother Nature had other ideas. Officials called the meet after seven events, deeming it was unsafe to compete.

Down the stretch they come: Guilderland’s Jack Larson (5) and Brian Igweike (3) battle Voorheesville’s Gus Dawson-Beilby (7), Columbia’s Christopher Carter, Jr and Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Nathan Kadlic in their 100-meter heat. Larson won with a time of 11.54 seconds, Igweike fourth with a time of 11.83 seconds and Dawson-Beilby 7th with a time of 11.97 seconds.

Sailing in a monsoon: Guilderland’s Eryn Tynan (1) leads ahead of her teammates Alexa Kosier, Tara Iyer, Danika Kosier, and Braelyn Cornell as they come around the turn in the 1500. Tynan finished 3rd with a time of 5:03.40, A. Kosier 7th with a time of 5:11.80, Iyer 5th with a time of 5:08.20, D. Kosier 13th with a time of 5:23.00 and Cornell 2nd with a time of 5:01.40.

Running together: Blackbirds’ Savannah Schmidt (8) and Shayla Hyman (7) run next to Guilderland’s Jane McCoy as they start around the turn in the 1500. Schmidt finished 10th with a time of 5:13.50, Hyman 22nd with a time of 5:36.40 and McCoy 17th with a time of 5:26.20.
