On Monday, April 8, the Voorheesville baseball team traveled to Joe Bruno Stadium to play the LaSalle Cadets in a game that was moved due to the eclipse. The Cadets’ starting pitching silenced the Blackbirds bats by holding them to just two hits in the Birds’ 7-to-0 loss.
On the weekend of March 1, the Guilderville boys’ swim team traveled to Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association swim and dive championships. Guilderville tied for 14th in the state with only four swimmers.
Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swimming team competed in this past weekend's Section 2 Championships, Feb. 15 to 17, at Shenendehowa. The team took home five sectional championships and will send three individuals and two relay teams to states.
On Tuesday, Feb. 13, Voorheesville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo bowling teams took part in the Section 2, Class C bowling championships at Boulevard Bowl. Voorheesville ended with 5107 in total pins and BKW with 4244 in total pins.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, Guilderland, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and Voorheesville indoor track teams battled to qualify for the state competition on March 2 in Staten Island. Guilderland qualified 12 for the state competition.
Last Thursday, Feb. 1, the Voorheesville boys’ volleyball took on the Catskill Cats at Clayton A. Bouton High School. The Blackbirds finally found their stride but couldn’t stop the Cats in their three-sets-to-none loss: 14-25, 13-25, 23-25.
On Sunday, Jan. 28, Voorheesville and Berne-Knox-Westerlo indoor track teams competed in the Section 2, Division 4 championships held at Union College. Voorheesville finished for the girls in 7th and boys third. Bulldogs finished 12th for the girls and 6th for the boys.
On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Guilderland-Voorheesville boys’ swim team held their senior night honoring their four seniors. From the first race till the last, the Guilderville boys broke four pool records (all three relays and Isak Brkanovic in the 50 free) in their 100-81 win.
On Sunday, Jan. 21, the Voorheesville Blackbirds battled the rest of the Colonial Council teams in the Colonial Council championships at Union College. The girls’ team finished sixth with 38 points and the boys’ team finished sixth with 39 points.
Last Wednesday, Jan. 10, the Voorheesville Blackbirds took to the lanes against Mohonasen in a Colonial Council matchup. The Birds couldn’t overcome the slow start and fell 27-5 and (3372-3309) in total pins.
