After closing five years ago, the Medusa General Store is back — this time as a gathering space. It’s owner April Roggio’s latest attempt to distill the spirit of rural communities. 

GUILDERLAND — Erin Lancraft has loved music since she was a young girl. She also started volunteering at a summer camp for children with developmental disabilities when she was 11, and continued to work there through high school. 

“We’re not here to beat each other up, but to develop ourselves.”

A traffic analysis says a drive-in bank would generate fewer trips than the current conditions. 

Spruce Plaza would house a restaurant, a law firm, a dentist’s office, and a nail salon. 

Nearly a year after approving the rezone of 107-109 Helderberg Ave., which triggered a lawsuit over the decision, the Altamont Village Board again voted to rezone the property. 

GUILDERLAND — Stephen Cadalso was one of the residents of the ghost neighborhood in front of Crossgates Mall; he sold his home to Pyramid in December 2015. He believes Pyramid’s current plan to build a Costco in his old neighborhood is “too intense” of a use.

Next steps are for the project to go to the Albany County Planning Board, possibly  in December, then to Guilderland’s planning board for a recommendation to the zoning board, and then to the zoning board for a public hearing no earlier than Jan. 15. 

The menu will be an affordable fusion of American and Italian fare that uses as much locally-sourced food as possible, according to Dinovo-Schroeder. 

Outgoing chamber president Michelle Viola-Straight is proud of the connections she has made among local businesses, the military, and community members.
