Jonathan Phillips, president of local company Phillips Hardware, has sold two of his stores to pay off the construction that he had started on a new store in Guilderland at routes 146 and 158. 

The Foxenkill will no longer be a tavern, says new owner Joe Plouffe, but a family-style Renaissance-themed restaurant.

The Dollar General in East Berne, at the intersection of Main Street and Helderberg Trail, had some traffic Monday afternoon. The store, which the Berne Planning Board approved in December, had its grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 10.

Ami Lahoff gave up a stable, full-time job so that she could strike out on her own. In just a couple of months, she went from selling her skincare and soap products online to having her own retail shop on South Main Street in Voorheesville. 

Troy Miller of CM Fox plans to open his first golf-simulator business in Guilderland in September and to duplicate the model elsewhere in the area in the next couple of years. 

GUILDERLAND — Courtney Miedema, co-owner of Cryo Lodge, a new business in Guilderland, said this week that she became convinced of the therapy’s benefits through her own experience as a serious runner.

“There’s no reason to ask for a variance if you’ve got enough space on your property to redesign the building so that it fits into the space without a variance,” McKownville resident Donald Reeb commented to the planning board about the proposed project.  

The Albany County Paid Sick Leave Act was defeated on Monday night, as one-third of the Democrats in the county legislature joined every Republican in a  21-to-17 vote.

The store even sells tinctures and treats for pets.
