ALTAMONT — As it celebrates its 125th anniversary, the Altamont Fair is “working hard” to preserve its history, says Bev Filkins who chairs a committee of volunteers that has been immersed in the the project for two years.

Lexie Paddon, 18, wants to be a lawyer who advocates for children in court. She also wants to help them find their way toward self-expression through music.

Gail Mirabella will be performing with her dogs at the Altamont Fair this week. Traveling across the country with 19 canine companions, she says that any dog can be taught a new trick.

ALTAMONT — The Altamont Fair will be celebrating 125 years since it was founded to feature livestock competitions and horse races.

“I’ll make guys think they are pregnant and can’t get out of a chair,” says Michael DeSchalit, the hypnotist and magician who will perform next week at the Altamont Fair.

ALTAMONT — Tommy Breen from Little Falls, New Jersey learned how to swallow swords when he was 14 or 15 years old. When he showed his mother and father — a real-estate agent and owner of a moving company — what he could do, they “weren’t pleased,” Breen said.

Lori McCormick, a nurse, bakes as therapy and helps run the cooking center at the Altamont Fair so kids and grown-ups alike can have fun.

Sydney Salerno, a Voorheesville student, will be competing in the Miss New York Teen USA pageant this coming weekend, from Jan. 13 to Jan. 15. The teenager has kept a busy schedule in preparation for the pageant, and she’s excited to see what’s in store this weekend.
