ALTAMONT –– Native and traditional living has practically gone out the window these days, but some people still hold true to their upbringing and culture.

Barbara Stevens, a 4-H leader and the judge of the dog show at the Altamont Fair, said the Cornell Cooperative Extension has a dog-obedience series as well as the week-long camp in the summer.

The first fair at the Altamont Fairgrounds was 120 years ago in 1893 according to the website www.altamontfair.com.

Motorcycles of all different shapes and sizes will be revving up engines at the Altamont Fair next week. Biker art and culture will be on full display.

Deadline to enter is Aug. 3. Contestants must be residents of Albany, Schenectady, or Greene counties.
