Neighbors help in a time of need

To the Editor:

This letter goes out to everyone who takes part in the loving community of Altamont.

I’ve always loved every day spent in Altamont, from morning walks with friendly conversation among neighbors to peaceful nights often echoing with the sounds of music and community entertainment at the fairgrounds.  However, I never could have imagined the wonderful things my neighbors would do for me in my time of need

In early June, a medical complication limited my ability to do household chores such as weeding, trimming, and planting flowers in my front yard.  Before long, my yard looked as if weeds and bushes were plotting to consume my entire house.

I had only a short conversation with a close friend and neighbor about my difficulty and two days later I came home to find the people in my loving, wonderful community landscaping my entire yard.

I was overwhelmed by their compassion and could barely find the words to describe how thankful I am to each and every one of them.

My neighbors’ support has truly moved me during this difficult time in my life, and I can only hope that one day I can make someone feel as special as I have been feeling.  My love and thanks goes out to you all, you are truly what makes Altamont a wonderful place to live.
