To the Editor:

How about exploring, in a very tentative way, consolidation of services for the state, county, town, and even school districts by having the state and county highway departments contracting to the town to have the highway mowing done by the town?

Result: consolidation of services, reduced equipment, no need for idle equipment while moving from road to road and maintenance of local control.

Perhaps the schools could contract to have their lawns mowed.  Later, we could try contracting snow removal if the mowing worked.
