These local members of the State National Guard have recently re-enlisted:

— Staff Sergeant Kenneth Allen from Delmar will continue service with the 1427th Transportation Company;

— First Sergeant Jeffrey Quivey from Altamont will continue service with the 222nd Chemical Company; and

Catharine Potvin and Melissa D’Andrea have been named to the board for the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York.

MENANDS — Edward C. Willey, who built greenhouses in Berne that he ran, with his wife, for a quarter of a century, died on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. He was 90.

Registration is now open for the eighth annual I Love My Park Day, to be held on May 4 at state parks, historic sites, and public lands across New York.

Joseph Tovares has been named vice president and chief content and engagement officer at WMHT Public Media, a locally-owned, not-for-profit organization.

The company launched a nationwide search earlier this year. Tovares will begin his new job on April 22.
