Barring the county legislature voting down the project, “we anticipate putting a shovel in the ground in about 25 [to] 30 days,” said Sheriff Craig Apple of beginning work on a new county Emergency 9-1-1 Communications Center in New Scotland, at the site of the former Clarksville Elementary School. 

“It’s an independent film project,” Discover Albany Film Commissioner Deb Goedeke told The Enterprise. “They will be there for a few days. I really can’t divulge any more information than that just because of confidentiality with our clients.”

Albany County’s design plans for the Voorheesville Quiet Zone are moving forward.

The New Scotland zoning board is being asked to clarify a provision in the zoning that not only impacts Richard Long’s 2080 New Scotland Road project, but every property in the hamlet district subject to that section of the code. 

After approving a pre-K program at its Monday meeting, the Voorheesville School Board was presented with a reopening plan that, as of Tuesday, had been put on hold while the district waits for new guidance from the State Education Department. 

Initially proposed in April as a 5-megawatt ground-mounted solar array with an ask to chop down over 41 acres of mature forest, Seaboard Solar in May presented the New Scotland Zoning Board of Appeals with a 4.2-megawatt system while shrinking the acreage it intended to fell for the proposed site. 

 If the acquisition application from CSX is approved by the Surface Transportation Board, big changes could be coming to the village of Voorheesville by April of next year.
