Fred Buonanno founded his butcher shop in 1979; he died in 2011 and the business, which bears his name, is carried on by his sons.

Fred the Butcher opened its second shop on Friday, March 5, in New Scotland. The Halfmoon-based butcher opened in the former home of Falvo’s Meat Market on Route 85A. Joseph Robilotto started working for Sam Falvo in the 1980s and bought the shop in 1991, putting it up for sale in 2018.
