NEW SCOTLAND — Syrup may flow next spring at the Heldeberg Workshop’s Sugar Shack thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Voorheesville Community and School Foundation.
A public hearing on the proposed spending plan, which is technically up over 14 percent from this year due to a one-time, already-accounted-for $3 million capital project outlay, is set for May 13.
ALBANY COUNTY — Two local parks are participating in I Love My Park Day, a statewide event held each year on the first Saturday of May to celebrate and enhance New York’s parks, historic sites, greenway trails and other public lands.

On May 7, a joint public hearing of the planning commission and zoning board is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Voorheesville firehouse on Atlas Copco’s proposed expansion plans.
The proposed budget is under the state-set cap by about $16,000, and would raise tax rates for property owners in the towns of New Scotland, Guilderland, and Berne between about 2.7 percent and 3.2 percent, depending on the municipality.
