VCSF celebrates silver anniversary, $500K in grants
To the Editor:
The Voorheesville Community & School Foundation has granted over $500,000 to support wonderful projects and programs in our community and schools since 1999.
For those readers not familiar with VCSF, we are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the educational, cultural, athletic, and organizational opportunities of the students and communities primarily of the Voorheesville Central School District.
You can see VCSF’s positive impact throughout town. We’ve helped support the construction of three pavilions, two playgrounds, a disc golf course, baseball bleachers, a sports wall, computer and sewing labs at the library, a train viewing platform, ART on the Rail Trail, and the parking lot at Tork’s Hill, just to name a few.
We have also supported sports and safety equipment, health and wellness efforts, STEM [science, technology, engineering, math] equipment and curriculum, and clubs, competitions, and more in the Voorheesville schools.
To celebrate our 25th anniversary, VCSF has launched the $25 to Thrive community fundraising campaign, which seeks donations from our community until the end of the year.
All donors who contribute $25 or more will be entered into a raffle drawing for VCSF’s 25th Anniversary Donor Appreciation basket, which includes $25 in Hannaford gift certificates, Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne, Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Red Wine, Krause’s 16-ounce Homemade Candy Assortment, a portable charcuterie board with lid, an 1803 Candle, and more.
A full list of contents is available on our website. We thank Voorheesville Hannaford, Aloe Vera Naturals LLC, and the VCSF board for their contributions to the prize.
VCSF has granted $10,000 in 2024 for a variety of projects, including equipment for the Heldeberg Workshop sugar shack, entry fees for the Voorheesville Science Olympiad, a bench for the gazebo at Hotaling Park, funding for school sports equipment shelving and bins as part of the BIG Idea Student Competition, and more.
There are over 8,000 residents in the Voorheesville Central School District. Just think — if one out of every 20 people donated $25, we’d raise $10,000. Imagine what VCSF could do for the next 25 years with our community’s support!
