NEW SCOTLAND — “Old Silver Leg,” about Pieter Stuyvesant in the New World, is a musical program to be presented on June 17 by “Ankie, Nanne & Tseard,” a group of three folksingers from Friesland in the Netherlands.

Saturday's Memorial Day parade marched through the village's main street in a light rain that didn't deter the crowd from cheering, waving flags, and saluting. The festive day also included a barbecue at the firehouse and fireworks to light up the spring sky.

A proposal to put a kennel in the Residential Agricultural district in New Scotland has neighbors concerned about smells, noises, and increased traffic near their homes. But the owner believes she can answer those concerns.

A special-use permit that has been in front of the New Scotland Planning Board since September of 2012 was finally approved at this month's meeting.

Following the January vandalism in Voorheesville, the middle and high schools have been without a sign. Last week, a new sign with a slightly different design appeared out front of the school building.

The New Scotland History Museum, located in the Wyman Osterhout Community Center, off of Route 85 in New Salem, is documenting the nearby Thacher Park’s century of history.

SLINGERLANDS — Theresa and Patrick A. Arico Jr. of Slingerlands announce the engagement of their daughter, Allison Margaret Arico, to Geoffery Daniel Shultz of North East Md.

VOORHEESVILLE — Shortly after 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, a small crowd heard the news that every proposition up for vote had passed.

The group, mostly made up of school board members, clapped and nodded as each proposal was read along with the voting numbers.

NEW SCOTLAND — Last Thursday afternoon, two young men climbed onto a rock ledge on the Indian Ladder Trail, and, according to police, spray-painted graffiti on the aged structure.
