Police found a stun gun in Shawn Duncan's home in May, a violation of his probation which has since been withdrawn. The warrant used to search his home was based on interviews with family members after their horse was found killed by an arrow in Westerlo.

PRESTON HOLLOW — The greenhouse on Route 145 will hold chrysanthemums and baked goods to bring people together at the Preston Hollow Beautification Committee’s annual fundraiser on Sept. 26 and 27.

At 75 years, the Rensselaerville Volunteer Fire Department showed little weariness Saturday. The ceremonial moments at the all-day celebration had the air and intimacy of a family reunion that ended with music and fireworks.

WESTERLO — Gerald “Pete” Woodruff, an easy-going man who owned and ran Woodruff’s Store with his wife, died on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 at Albany Medical Center as the result of a massive stroke. He was 84.

Reviving the historic property — used as a community park, a summer hotel, and a christian retreat in Berne — along Route 443 has been complicated by an expensive demolition.
