Berne-Knox-Westerlo has already put into place two major initiatives that should help uncouple the dilemma at the heart of the paradox on special education.

WESTERLO — Patricia “Pat” Ann Overbaugh Rapp “went to be with her Lord on March 10, 2019,” her family wrote in a tribute. She was 81.

While the town board will have the final say on the proposed multi-use recreational district in Knox, the planning and zoning boards have already weighed in, with mixed results.

Following complaints from the previous inspector about not having enough hours or resources, the Berne Town Board agreed to split the job into two building-inspector positions.

On Tuesday, March 12, the Old Men of The Mountain met at the Duanesburg Diner in Duanesburg.

Two public hearings on the proposed facility will be held on March 27: from noon to 2 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.

The acting supervisor, William Bichteman, cannot vote on the town board but otherwise has most of the powers of town supervisor. Republican council members say they want to leave it this way until voters can choose their own supervisor in November.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo Superintendent Timothy Mundell said that  school board members hope that Board President Matthew Tedeschi will help to represent rural schools in Albany County.

BERNE — This rural Helderberg Hilltown, long dominated by Democrats, saw a Republican resurgence two years ago, nearly flipping the town board majority. Two Republicans — Supervisor Sean Lyons and Councilman Dennis Palow — both won their first-ever elected posts and the third GOP candidate lost by a single vote.

The Hilltown Seniors all gathered for our monthly meeting and luncheon at the Shell Inn, which hosted our Irish lunch of corned beef, cabbage, and carrots with dinner rolls and dessert.
