The weather was cold and windy on Tuesday afternoon as the Berne-Knox-Westerlo track-and-field team faced off against Duanesburg at home. The teams did their best in the windy conditions where the BKW boys won, 72 to 49, and the girls lost, 83 to 46.

The homeowner was found sitting at the side of the road in her nightgown, her only possession not destroyed in the fire that burned down her home on Nash Road in Knox, the fire chief said.

Berne Highway Superintendent Randy Bashwinger said that he took on another job at the Albany County Board of Elections for the extra income. While he says he can carry out both jobs, Democratic town board members expressed concern that he would not be adequately supervising workers.

BERNE — Around 3:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, a person driving on Route 156 in Berne saw a car stopped in the middle of the road, still running. Looking inside the Chevy Malibu, the passerby saw three people were unconscious and called 9-1-1, said Chief Deputy William Rice, of the Albany County Sheriff’s office.

MEDUSA – Charles Steele, an Army veteran, never stopped fighting.

“He was upset he was dying. He was concerned for his son,” said his sister, Joanne Steele. “He was a trouper.”

Arthur D. Ogsbury

KNOX — Art Ogsbury was described by his wife as “Mr. Wonderful to the World.”

“I told him that all the time,” said Mae Ogsbury. “He was a proud man and a hard worker. He was a smiley man. His handshake was strong; that was his trademark.”

Amie Burnside said it was nerve-wracking being the only Republican on Westerlo’s town board, but then, two years ago, another Republican joined her. Now the GOP is running for the majority.
