John Roger Jeanneney

BERNE — John Jeanneney — who loved history and dogs — died, after several years of declining health, on Monday, July 5, 2021, at his home in Berne, with his family by his bedside. He was 86.

Incumbent Berne town justices Albert Raymond and Alan Zuk both declined GOP nominations. The party will not seek replacements. 

Berne-Knox-Westerlo salutatorian Corey Bub, of Westerlo, will attend Schenectady County Community College to study game design.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo valedictorian Quinn Toomey is headed to Keuka College, in Yates County, to study applied mathematics and finance and to play baseball.

Seniors aged 60 and older are welcome to enjoy a nutritious lunch offered by the Helderberg Senior Services lunch program.

Rev. Robert Martin Duchow

WESTERLO — Rev. Robert Martin Duchow, a retired Lutheran pastor, local historian, and fifth-generation resident of the family home in Westerlo, died on Friday, June 11, 2021, in Farmington, Conn., where he had lived with his son and daughter-in-law for the last four years. He was 84.
