Farnsworth Middle School student Mira DelSignore, with the help of teacher Alan Fiero, recently won a grant to further the garden work.

GUILDERLAND — Millard S. Edwards, known as Ed to family and friends and described as the “true patriarch” of his family, died on Monday, March 24, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Edwards was born in Albany, the son of the late Millard S. Edwards Sr. and Julia Kegel Hay.

Matthew C. Woelfersheim also intentionally started a fire in an unoccupied building on Carman Road in Guilderland on Sept. 30, 2013; the fire spread to a neighboring property and damaged a garage and vehicle, according to police.

Alphonzo Hicks Jr. was unable to complete field sobriety tests and, according to the police report, registered a blood alcohol content of .27.

GUILDERLAND – Julie Foley had a passion for teaching and was a pioneer for girls’ sports. She died on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at St. Peter’s Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with mesothelioma. She was 77.

Mrs. Foley was born in Albany, the daughter of the late John and Berneice (née Weisel) Fallon.

Foodplay, sponsored by Hannaford Supermarkets, is being staged at 35 schools throughout the Northeast to promote healthy eating.

GUILDERLAND — Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Carter of Guilderland announce the engagement of their daughter Cici Elizabeth Carter, to Cody Edward Cooper, son of Clare VanDurme and Larry Cooper of Dansville, N.Y.

When I graduated from High School in Fairhaven, Mass. my whole world changed. The usual routine of eating, studying, meeting my friends for a Chow Mein sandwich over in New Bedford were  about to be a thing of the past.
