There was a time, not too long ago, when we could tell some of the days of the week just by walking down the street. Monday was washday and lines would be filled with the laundry, letting the sun and wind freshen and dry the clothes.  Sounds easy but if laundry is not taken care of regularly it will build up quickly.

When I was a young girl growing up in Fairhaven, Mass., I was influenced by my activities that consisted of boating, swimming, riding my bike, school, church, and playing with my friends.

ALTAMONT — The annual Angel of Hope Candlelight Vigil will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the village of Altamont park on Main Street adjoining the Key Bank property, where the Angel of Hope statue stands.

The vigil is a public gathering for anyone who has lost a child.

Courtney Van Dyke, the new director of activities for The Massry Residence, the assisted living residence at Daughters of Sarah Senior Community, in Albany, takes her job personally.

Melissa Nettleton has joined S & B Staffing on Washington Avenue Extension as staffing supervisor for permanent and temporary job placement at the company.

In her new role, Nettleton will work with candidates and clients throughout the Capital Region to assist companies in the hiring of new staff.

GUILDERLAND — A new fitness program for cancer survivors will launch at the Guilderland branch of the YMCA in February.
