Hone Coworks opened on Wednesday at Great Oaks office complex in Guilderland.

ALTAMONT — Ardelle M. (née Gordon) Spawn, of Altamont, died peacefully at her son’s home on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, after a long battle with dementia. She was 76.

She was born on Oct. 12,1943, the daughter of the late Stanley Gordon and Katherine (née Kniskern) Gordon of Central Bridge.

ALTAMONT — Helen Banas Reals, of Saratoga Springs — one of the first female police officers in Los Angeles, and the first female reader at St. Lucy’s Parish in Altamont — died on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2020.  She was 92.

Yard debris is shoveled into a machine that spits out rich compost.

Kits of hand sanitizer, KN-95 masks, and hand soap are donated to Altamont Elementary School Tuesday morning by Jonathan Phillips, fifth-generation owner of Phillips Hardware.

“We have to be a model for our kids to deal with adversity in positive ways. That’s one of the greatest gifts we can give our kids,” said Altamont Elementary School Principal Peter Brabant who is optimistically running a school where two classes and a handful of teachers had to be quarantined.

A group of citizens dedicated to supporting the historic Schoolcraft House has disbanded but Guilderland’s supervisor says the town will continue to support the house and the town’s historian says, “The potential is there.”

The state reached a record high for COVID-19 tests while the infection rate stayed below 1 percent.
