BETHLEHEM — On Friday, a house fire took the life of a Bethlehem resident.

An autopsy was completed on Monday morning and the deceased occupant was identified as Michael F. Jeram, age 65. The cause of the fire was ruled not suspicious, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.

BETHLEHEM — Sixty-four acres of forestland has been donated to the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy by WestRock, the second largest American packaging company, based in Georgia.

BETHLEHEM — Nicholas Suhr, a Delmar resident, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the New York Army National Guard, during a ceremony at New York National Guard headquarters on Friday, March 26.

A proposal currently being reviewed by federal regulators would allow Norfolk Southern the right to use CSX’s rails between Voorheesville and central Massachusetts to move “one” 9,000-foot-long double-stacked “train pair” — a single train, nearly two miles long, traveling to and from Massachusetts — per day.

BETHLEHEM — A Bethlehem Police investigation of stolen packages ended with the arrest on March 4 of Maureen M. McCarthy, 41, of Delmar.

BETHLEHEM — The chamber of commerce here is celebrating Bethlehem Restaurant Appreciation Week from Jan. 25 to 31.

BETHLEHEM — The Bethlehem Grange has extended its Christmas food drive due to continuing need.

Two storefronts were boarded at Delmar’s Four Corners after a Jeep Cherokee went off of Kenwood Avenue on Nov. 7 and crashed into them. The driver was arrested on Tuesday.
