Bethlehem fire takes one life

BETHLEHEM — On Friday, a house fire took the life of a Bethlehem resident.

An autopsy was completed on Monday morning and the deceased occupant was identified as Michael F. Jeram, age 65. The cause of the fire was ruled not suspicious, according to a release from the Bethlehem Police.

At 3:06 a.m. on April 17, the Bethlehem Police Department received a report of a structure fire at 228 Bender Lane in Delmar, according to a release from the department. The residence was “fully involved” when firefighters arrived, but crews were able to eventually extinguish the fire.

Several fire departments responded, including Elsmere, Delmar, Selkirk, and North Bethlehem. Also assisting at the scene were the Albany County Sheriff’s paramedics and Delmar-Bethlehem Emergency Medical Services.
