The New Scotland Town Bard on Feb. 8 signed off on updates to the town’s solar law, property annexations, and a couple of projects. But the board debated funding sources for those projects and other proposals like tax breaks for first responders, and went into executive session to discuss a new revenue stream for the town. 

BM Guilderland, LLC was proposing a 66-lot single-family residential cluster subdivision, with 62 of the homes accessible from either Route 146 or Concord Hill Drive and four located in a cul-de-sac at the end of Posson Road. 

Anthony Berghela, owner of the popular Romo’s Pizza in Glenmont, wants to add a covered deck to the former Smith’s Tavern.

The Voorheesville Central School District, for the second year in a row, is not projecting a budget shortfall for the following year, which is unusual in a first-draft spending proposal. 

The Altamont Zoning Board of Appeals at its Jan. 24 meeting touched on issues related to first-responder access, on-site water, and general site access. 

A public hearing on the proposed law was held on Jan. 25, while a vote on the matter is likely to happen in the coming weeks. 

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Zoning Board of Appeals had a significant shake-up at the start of the New Year.

During the town board’s reorganizational meeting, attorney Elizabeth Lott was named to succeed longtime chairman, Thomas Remmert. 

“It all goes towards recruitment and retention, which has kind of been a hidden bugaboo of the volunteer fire department for a number of years,” Donald Gaitor, a 50-year volunteer firefighter, told Guilderland Town Board recently 

In November, area residents came to the Voorheesville firehouse to voice their concerns over losing access to Route 719. This week, the Capital District Transportation Authority announced a two-phase plan that will bring a large portion of the route back into service.
