Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy announced on Friday afternoon that there have been no positive test results in the county for COVID-19. Two tests were pending and 14 households were under quarantine, the executive’s office reported on Friday evening.

While the risk of being infected with the novel coronavirus remains very low for Albany County residents, Albany County Health Commissioner Elizabeth Whalen said, “We are not too early to start planning … to be prepared if we need to be prepared.”

“We’ve been able to ensure every student has technology. It really levels the playing field,” said Demian Singleton, the district’s assistant superintendent for instruction.

University at Albany graduate students are working with the town of Guilderland without pay to chart the future of trails and parks in town but their many hours of work are being logged so that the town can use that information when applying for grants to bring the students’ recommendations to reality.

Richard Amedure of Rensselaerville announced his candidacy Friday for the 46th State Senate District.

“I’m very disciplined and very determined,” said Amedure, a long-time member of the Rensselaerville Planning Board.

ALBANY COUNTY — Several skunks and raccoons with distemper, a contagious and serious disease, have been found in Albany, according to the Albany Police Department, which is urging residents to make sure their dogs are up to date on their canine distemper vaccinations.

“Information is power,” said surveyor Cynthia Elliot of a project to map the burial grounds in New Scotland.

GUILDERLAND — A 34-year-old Albany man was charged today with second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts of fourth-degree stalking at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland.

“A huge number of people have expressed interest in [finding] an alternative to development,” said Mark King, executive director of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy. “We’re trying to wrangle those interests into something we could present as an alternative.”
