BETHLEHEM — On Tuesday, Bethlehem Police arrested two people whom, police say, made up a story that a car was stolen from Glenmont.

In the Sept. 12 Democratic primary, Victoria Plotsky, a lawyer running on reform, is challenging Darrell Duncan, the former county commissioner of public works, to represent parts of New Scotland and Bethlehem in the Albany County Legislature. Duncan was appointed in January to fill a vacancy.

A dramatic change in Guilderland’s equalization rate, set by the state, means Guilderland residents will pay more in county taxes and in school districts like Voorheesville’s. Also, the value of residents’ exemptions will drop.

ALTAMONT — Jean Conklin turned her Tuesday farewell party at Hungerford Market into a customer-appreciation party since she has decided to keep the bagel shop.

“Everybody thought I had a ton of daughters,” says Jean Conklin who is selling her Hungerford Market business. That’s because, in addition to her three daughters who worked at the shop known for its bagels, she treated staff like family.

“It takes a lot of patience and perseverance,” says Kelley Doolin a member of the Pony Pals 4-H drill team, performing at the Altamont Fair friday at 7 p.m.

Albany County Sheriff

Three assault weapons and high-capacity magazines containing ammunition were found in the trunk of a car stopped for a traffic violation in Voorheesville, according to Albany County Sheriff Chief Deputy William Rice.

“I’ll make guys think they are pregnant and can’t get out of a chair,” says Michael DeSchalit, the hypnotist and magician who will perform next week at the Altamont Fair.
