Norman Bell

Norman Bell of Surgoinsville, Tennessee died peacefully at home on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023. He was 57.

Michael D. Donahue

Michael D. Donahue, who had a passion for fireworks, served in the United States Army in explosive ordnance disposal and as a combat engineer.
He died on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was 70.

ALTAMONT — Jean Hungerford Krull died peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at home surrounded by family, as she wished. She celebrated her 100th birthday in May.

John Wolcott

COLONIE — “John Wolcott, a rebel with a cause, a purveyor of justice and the truth, died Aug. 17, 2023, a month before his 91st birthday,” his family wrote in a tribute. “He is now walking the Glory Road with Jesus.

ALBANY — Jane Olivia Greenwood-Barry, whose artistry was evident in her photography, her cooking, and her garden, died peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2023, in Albany. She was 60.
 She was born in Voorheesville to the late Donald Greenwood and Sybil Greenwood Kline.

Agatha Mairinger

ALTAMONT — Agatha Mairinger, of Altamont, who had a passion for the library, died on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2023, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany where she had worked as a nurse. She was 89.

She was born in Holland on Feb. 26, 1934 to the late Joannes Rinkel and Theodora Kooi.

Alicia M. Rizzo had a passion for teaching. She persevered as principal of Lynnwood Elementary School despite having cancer.

“A strong and fearless leader” is how her family describes her.

“A strong advocate for children and an exceptional educator” is how the Guilderland schools superintendent describes her.

VOORHEESVILLE — Shirley J. Wright, who was dedicated to her family, also worked as a Guilderland High School hall monitor and, early in her career, helped set up inspection stations for the state police.

She died peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, at her Voorheesville home after a long illness. She was 88.

EAST BERNE — George Harris Waldenmaier became an honorary swim coach for his grandson and a patron of the arts for his granddaughter. He loved to garden and to help community organizations like the library, Thacher Park, and the Hilltown Players.

VOORHEESVILLE — Kelly W. Thompson, a county corrections officer, was a proud parent who dedicated his life to community service.
He died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at his Voorheesville home. Born in Albany, he was a lifelong resident of Voorheesville.

Donald R. Davies

FEURA BUSH — Donald R. Davies of Feura Bush “entered eternal rest on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer,” his family wrote in a tribute. He was 76.

At his bedside at the time of his passing were his wife of 53 years, Jo Ann; his son, Brian; and his daughter-in-law, Amber.

Anita J. Behn

GUILDERLAND — Anita J. Behn, a lifelong learner who worked for a decade as administrator of the state museum, died peacefully at her McKownville home on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023. She was 85.
Born in Batavia, New York, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Rose (née Barsuk) Davidovitz.

Kelly W. Thompson

VOORHEESVILLE — Kelly W. Thompson, a county corrections officer, was a proud parent who dedicated his life to community service.
He died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Aug. 1, at his Voorheesville home. Born in Albany, he was a lifelong resident of Voorheesville.

WESTERLO — Julia Margaret Peck, who loved spending time with her family, died suddenly on Friday, July 28, 2023. She was 85.

She was born July 27, 1938 and lived in Westerlo for most of her life.

Bartholomew Dowd

FUERA BUSH — Bartholomew Dowd, a meticulous carpenter who loved being in nature, died in the early morning of Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023. He was 62.

“He was surrounded by his family and friends when he went to be with the Lord our God,” his family wrote in a tribute.
