GUILDERLAND — The Old Hellebergh Chapter of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated its 40th anniversary earlier this year with a commemorative luncheon.

WESTERLO — The Westerlo Reformed Church will have a free Christmas music program for anyone who enjoys great Christmas music. Wally Jones and Jeanne Ryan will provide beautiful music on Dec. 8 at 2 p.m.

The senior lunch — of lasagna, salad, and dessert — will be Dec. 12 at noon.

GUILDERLAND — Guilderhaven 2020 calendars are on sale now. You can pre-order your 8.5-by-11-inch wall calendars for only $16 by calling me, Sue Green, at 518-861-6861.

They make great holiday gifts and all proceeds benefit Guilderhaven’s work helping animals.

Thanksgiving Eve, which has also been called “Blackout Wednesday,” is one of the busiest drinking nights of the year and the beginning of the holiday season, when there is an increase in instances of impaired driving.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Uber are therefore offering free rides on Wednesday night.

These members of the New York Army National Guard have recently been promoted:

— Frank Quintana from Slingerlands, assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters, received a promotion to the rank of lieutenant colonel;

GUILDERLAND — Stuyvesant Plaza hosts its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Complimentary seasonal carriage rides will be offered each Saturday and Sunday, starting Nov. 30 through Dec. 22. The carriage rides will depart in front of Jean Paul Spa and Salons.

GUILDERLAND — On Nov. 15, Community Caregivers Inc., a non-profit based in Guilderland, received a $1,500 award from State Employees Federal Credit Union.

DELMAR — The Bethlehem Chamber’s annual Holiday Shopping Card lets holders take advantage of discounts and promotions offered by more than 30 local businesses.

Albany International Airport is anticipating near-record passenger travel over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday period. Nationwide, the trade association Airlines for America expects traffic to hit an all-time high with 31.6 million passengers taking to the air over the 12-day travel period between Nov. 22 and Dec.

ALBANY COUNTY — Through Dec. 9, the county is running a coat drive for veterans.

Coats are being collected at Crossgates Mall in Guilderland, cleaned by by Best Cleaners, and then distributed by The Homeless and Travelers Aid Society and the Veterans Miracle Center.

Voorheesville Community and School Foundation welcomes all ideas for the 2019 Little Big Idea. 

A tree that will go up in the lobby of the Guilderland Y on Nov. 23 is called the Giving Tree. 

The tree will be decorated with tags that each represent a gift requested by a local family in need. 

Colonie

Colonie Senior Service Centers Inc. is planning a trip for anyone aged 55 or older to two museums:  the Clark Museum and Williamstown Museum of Art. The tour is on Friday, Nov. 15, and leaves from the Beltrone Living Center at 9 a.m.

100th anniversary of the The American Legion Clarke White Post 589 and its auxiliary, celebrated in honor of Veterans Day at the Shell Inn in Rensselaerville on November 10.
