GUILDERLAND — Guilderhaven finished 2017, having facilitated the spaying or neutering of 461 cats and 82 dogs that participated in our low-cost programs.

The new year has started with strong demands for our services and, with our community support, we are confident of another successful year.

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission will offer a variety of programs at the Discovery Center during the upcoming school break, from Feb. 19 to 23. Programs include a series of bird-themed activities and a family trivia night.

The Elliott House Thrift Shop will open for the 2018 season on Wednesday, March 14, weather permitting; it will close if the weather is inclement.

KNOX — The Knox Youth Council invites families and friends to join in the annual Hilltown Winter Fest in the Knox town park pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Book Nook at Grace United Methodist Church in Ravena is holding its semi-annual Huge Winter Book Sale on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Feb. 22, 23, and 24. The hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
