Over school vacation, Discovery Center hosts activities

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission will offer a variety of programs at the Discovery Center during the upcoming school break, from Feb. 19 to 23. Programs include a series of bird-themed activities and a family trivia night.

The week starts with the Build a Bird program. Participants will learn about how birds’ bodies are built for the places they live and the things they eat, followed by a chance to create a Pine Bush bird from a variety of materials.

On Tuesday, participants will build bird nests; on Wednesday, bird feeders; and on Thursday, bird houses. On Friday, they will dissect owl pellets.

Tuesday evening we be the first-ever Pine Bush Family trivia night, focusing on Pine Bush knowledge.

Programs are $3 per person and $5 per family. Children under 5 years old are admitted for free.  Pre-registration is required for all programs. The Discovery Center is located at 195 New Karner Road. For more information and to sign up for any of these programs, visit www.AlbanyPineBush.org/events or call (518) 456-0655.
